Welcome to Tawe Consulting, providing professional clinical psychology services to Swansea and surrounding areas
Specialist Psychological Assessment
Comprehensive psychological assessments are provided in a range of areas such as:
- Intellectual functioning/IQ
- Neuropsychological functioning
- Mental capacity
- Impact of trauma
- Mental state
- Suitability for specialist placements
- Suitability for psychotherapy
- Treatment needs
I also offer individual psychotherapy sessions for adults who are struggling with psychological difficulties (either acute or long-term) or who are going through a period of emotional distress. I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space in which to explore and understand difficulties and develop strategies for change, drawing upon my knowledge and expertise of psychology as applied to emotional health.
For those who are not able to travel to therapy sessions, or who would prefer to have an initial psychological consultation over the phone, I also offer a telephone consultation service. This consists of an hour-long consultation at a time convenient to you, and includes a written summary of the consultation and any advice offered, which is sent out to you within three working days. Telephone consultations are provided at a reduced fee, and so offer an affordable taste of what a professional psychological consultation is like. They are suitable as a stand-alone brief intervention and source of information/advice for those with relatively recent or specific difficulties, or alternatively, you may choose to pursue further psychotherapy sessions should this be indicated by the initial assessment. Information about options for further treatment is available at the time of consultation, and I am happy to advise you about a range of available options depending on your personal circumstances and preferences.
I have experience in providing therapy for the following issues:
- Anxiety and stress
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Childhood abuse / trauma
- Loss / bereavement
- Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Disorders of eating and body image
- Adjustment to chronic illness, injury or disability
- Relationship difficulties
- Low self-esteem and confidence issues
- Suicidal feelings
- Anger problems
- Drug and alcohol dependence
- Bipolar disorder (manic-depression)
- Schizophrenia / psychosis
Therapy sessions are available for individuals, couples and families. Clinics are currently held in the Swansea and Neath Port Talbot areas.
